Additions to the Little River Water Pollution Control Plant Columbia County, Georgia Increase treatment capacity from 3.0 mgd to 6.0 mgd
This project consisted of construction of additions to the raw sewage pump station, a vortex type grit separator, an aeration basin, two final clarifiers, ultraviolet disinfection, tertiary filters, return sludge pump station, sludge holding tank and modifications to the existing plant, all complete with appurtenances.
G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers provided full scale engineering services from concept through completion of construction. The scope of services included meeting with County personnel to discuss scope of project; preparation of Preliminary Engineering Report consisting of recommendations, cost estimates, implementation schedule and possible funding sources; preparation of Design Development Report and Environmental Information Document; prepared materials and attended public hearings; prepared NPDES Permit application; prepared plans, bid documents and construction specifications; obtained EPD approval of plans and specifications; received construction bids; prepared bid tabulation and letter of recommendation of contract award; prepared contract documents between owner and contractor; conducted preconstruction conference; issued notice to proceed; checked shop drawings; provided on-site resident inspection; reviewed and approved contractors request for payment; provided record drawings to the owner.
